  • 5 Reasons to Choose a Destination Wedding

    1/17/2018 11:15:06 AM Link 0 comments | Add comment

Destination weddings have almost become the new normal.

It is not uncommon for a couple to consider this option after getting engaged, and it’s a great one to consider!

If you enjoy traveling, a destination wedding could mean having the wedding of their dreams. There may be a location in mind that they both love, or maybe they like the idea of reciting their vows somewhere new. No matter what the circumstances are, a destination wedding can benefit you in many different ways.

Sandals/Beaches Resorts offers a number of different wedding packages at each of their  resorts in Jamaica—one of which might be the perfect fit for you.

    Vacation with Your Loved Ones

Think of your last vacation. Now think of your last vacation with all of your closest friends and family with you.

Having a destination wedding allows for you to be on vacation with all your loved ones at the same time. You are not only in an exciting destination, but you have yourr favorite people there to share the moment with.

    Save Money

Having a destination wedding can save you money. In most cases, it is cheaper than having a standard wedding at home. You don’t have to waste time adding up the costs of meals, decorations, cake and so on—most destination wedding locations have a packaged deal for everything needed at a reasonable cost or free*!

    Wedding and Honeymoon in One

No need to plan two trips. You can choose to either stay at the resort after your guests leave or move to another location.

For example, if your're getting married at Beaches Ocho Rios, you can jump over to Sandals Ocho Rios or even head to 7 other Sandals Resort in Jamaica to stay at either Sandals Negril or Sandals Montego Bay for your honeymoon.

    Longer Celebration

Typical weddings are only a one-day celebration, and after a morning of getting glamorous, the bride and groom are really only with their guests for part of a day. Having a destination wedding allows for you to spend a few days celebrating this special time.

Whether it’s a four-day trip or a seven-day trip, you can celebrate with one day at the pool, one day on a group excursion and one day at the spa all in one trip! The photographer will not only have photos of you walking down the aisle but of all the moments spent with friends and family throughout the week.

    More Intimate

A destination wedding is perfect for couples who prefer a smaller, more intimate ceremony and celebration. Also, it’s a great way to narrow down the guest list.

If you are overwhelmed with everyone you feel you need to invite, having a destination wedding is a perfect way to allow you to trim down who you are inviting and share the moment with just a handful of loved ones.

  • Update: Africa Is Taking Steps To Become A Borderless Nation

    1/9/2018 1:18:12 AM Link 0 comments | Add comment

On December 12, 2017, Its Your Time To Travel* radio show asked the question "What's the value of Africa becoming a borderless nation".

Answer: The hope is that by making travel easier in Africa, trade and economic growth will flourish among African countries.

Today, Ethiopian Airlines has announced it is looking to establish new hub airports in southern Africa, Central Africa and the Horn, in order to better connect neighboring countries, and further develop trade and tourism within the continent.

In case you didn't know international travel to the African continent blossoms—visitation was up 6.5 percent in 2017—getting to Africa is becoming easier than ever. A number of carriers are increasing or expanding international service to their African hubs.

While getting to the continent may be easier than ever, moving around Africa often times remains a challenge.

So, Ethiopian Airlines is seeking to alleviate some of that pain by establishing new hub airports in southern Africa, Central Africa and the Horn, in order to better connect neighboring countries, and further develop trade and tourism within the continent.

Best example would be Addis Ababa which is a very successful hub. Out of the around 11 million passengers they transport every year, 70 percent are not entering Addis. They are transit passengers to other African countries and the rest of the world.”

Ethiopian Airlines is connecting Europe with Africa, the Middle East with Africa and Asia with Africa. Ethiopian Airlines want to expand and be close to their customers. With a very large landmass and around one billion population, Africa has a high growth opportunity. By expanding the hubs, they will be contributing significantly to intra-Africa connectivity.

Carriers in Africa is trying to develop a continental open skies agreement also known as a YD. Discussions of a universal adoption of the YD come just as some African nations also contemplate creating a borderless Africa, lessening the need for visas for intercontinental travel.

For Ethiopian Airlines, it’s all about establishing a “missing link.”

“As a Pan-African Airline, serving their beloved continent Africa has always been a source of pride for Ethiopian Airlines, with this commitment, Ethiopian has been able to create a missing link, availing easy movement of Africans from one corner to the other.”

In 2017, Ethiopian Airlines added 12 new destinations with another 10 new destinations planned by June 2018. In North America, the airline serves Washington D.C., Toronto and Los Angeles.
