Four Reasons Why We Love The Dominican Republic

When you think of a beach vacation, what comes to mind? If refreshing blue water, glistening sand, and an ice-cold drink in your hand are the first things you think of, then the Dominican Republic is where you want to be. But let’s be honest; we’d be crazy to limit your beach getaway to just those few (amazing) things. Whether you prefer to sprawl out and spend the day relaxing, practice your golf game at a championship course, treat yourself to a pampering spa treatment, or enjoy an out-of-this world meal with your family, this Caribbean destination will offer everything needed for that memorable trip to paradise.
The beaches are incredible
The Dominican Republic is well-known for its amazing beaches, which is why it’s a destination that ranks high on our list of tropical getaways. Miles of palm studded white sand mixed with the sound of rolling waves help to set the stage for your ultimate beach bliss. Slip away to a few of our favorite spots – like Playa Blanca, Bavaro, and Macao Beach – and enjoy the beach your way.
Adventure is abundant in Punta Cana
There’s more to Punta Cana than the beaches, although they are pretty much the stuff dreams are made of. While you’re here though, you may want to see what Punta Cana is truly all about. From catamarans and marinariums to ziplining and horseback riding, you can really experience both land and sea. Go by yourself, with your friends, or even take the kids along. There’s something for everyone to enjoy here!
History and culture await in La Romana
Calling all culture buffs! A visit to La Romana is an absolute must if you love to explore and learn. Head over to the re-created Mediterranean Village of Altos de Chavon and enjoy an afternoon full of performances, shopping, dining, and more. Nearby, the Cuevas de la Maravillas, otherwise known as the “Caves of Wonder”, feature ancient Taino paintings from thousands of years ago.
The “Amber Coast” is as exciting as it is beautiful
There’s nothing like a getaway to Puerto Plata, where beautifully unspoiled beaches lead to shimmering amber sands, perfect for forgetting your troubles and getting lost in a good book. If you’re on the adventurous side, kite surfing and windsurfing are great ways to have some fun in the sun. Make your way to Playa Dorada, Confresi, or Playa Mariposa and enjoy watersports to your heart’s content.
The Dominican Republic appeals to every traveler, especially when it comes to fun and excitement. Spend your days whale watching, surfing, playing a game of golf, or simply take some time decompressing on the beach. The choice is yours! The only question is: Which Dominican gem will you be visiting first?
Start planning your ultimate beach getaway to the Dominican Republic today – and be sure to stay up-to-date on the latest travel protocols along the way!

Quintana Roo’s New Tourism Tax
4/8/2021 12:07:42 PM Link 0 comments | Add comment
On April 1, international travelers visiting Quintana Roo will be required to pay a new tourism tax. According to Mexico News Daily, travelers will pay $11 to visit popular destinations across the state like Cancun, Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel.
The payment is required for all international visitors over 15 years old. Travelers can expect to pay the new tax electronically while booking their trip, during their stay or upon exiting the state via a new website called Visitax (which does not seem to be live as of this article publishing). Additionally, there is an option to pay in cash at terminals in airports. “It’s expected to be an agile and simple transaction that won’t complicate visitors’ stay,” said Rodrigo Diaz, director-general of the state tax administration.
The new tourism tax was implemented to help fund more development within the tourism industry across the state. This mainly consists of generating tourism jobs and economic centers to make their state a strong visitor attraction. Governor Carlos Joaquin Gonzalez proposed the tax and it was approved by the state congress last year. It was originally estimated to generate $43.6 million but with the delay of the tax’s implementation because of COVID-19, it was reduced to $29 million in 2021.
Europe, Where to Go?

With the number of people in the United States vaccinated against the coronavirus climbing, Americans are starting to explore their prospects for international travel this summer, a season when Europe is traditionally a big draw.
Most of Europe has been off-limits to most U.S. citizens for over a year, and the continent is currently grappling with a third wave of coronavirus infections and a surge in new, more contagious variants, making it unclear when its borders will reopen. But some European countries have started to welcome vaccinated travelers, including American tourists, and others are making preparations to ease restrictions in time for the summer season.
Greece
Surrounded by the Aegean, Ionian and the Mediterranean Seas, Greece gently cascades into thousands of islands with gentle breezes, clear waters, and sandy beaches.
The Greeks are known for their friendliness and hospitality and you will be warmly welcomed wherever you go. There is magic to the country of Greece that is exhilarating and a destination definitely worth discovering for yourself.
Athens
One of Europe's Ancient capitals, Athens has undergone significant change in recent years. A modern metropolis with an old town feel, this is where antiquity meets futurism, and ancient monuments fuse with a trendy, cosmopolitan scene. The heart of its historical centre is the Plaka neighbourhood, with labyrinthine streets leading to all manner of ancient wonders.
Chania
Chania (pronounced “Hanya”) is considered the loveliest port town in Greece. Swallows soar in sheer blue skies above the semicircle of tall Venetian houses around its picture-perfect Old Harbour. The tables of scores of bars and restaurants line the quayside. Behind the harbour front, narrow, traffic-free shopping lanes thread through the atmospheric Old Town. On either side of the town, sandy beaches stretch along the coast.
Corfu
Corfu is considered by many to be the most beautiful of all the Greek islands. The island offers a beguiling landscape of wild flowers, cypress trees, olive trees and luxurious sandy beaches. The west coast of the island boasts some of the prettiest countryside and small coves with sandy beaches surrounded by cliffs and trees. The north is defined by a rocky coastline where the crystal-clear water has chopped into pebbled bays and coves.
Crete
Crete, the largest Greek island, is a place where Myth meets History, where the age-old Cretan culture teems in modern villas, where the sea meets the mountains and unspoiled nature coexists with modern tourist infrastructure. Crete has a thousand faces: one for each and every sort of traveller: the nature-lover, the explorer, the cosmopolitan, the lover of history and the classic vulture.
Kos
Kos is one of the most visited islands in the Dodecanese, and teems with activity every summer.
Mykonos
Mykonos is an eclectic place - pristine beaches, elegant boutiques, fine dining, and rowdy bars are all packed onto one tiny piece of land, a mere 15km long at its widest point. Partying is a round-the-clock affair here, against a scenic backdrop of whitewashed houses and Little Venice, Mykonos Town's most charming neighbourhood.
Rhodes
Rhodes, the pearl of the Mediterranean area, is a cosmopolitan island, combining unique natural beauty and archaeological wealth with great beaches and intensive nightlife. This is a place for everyone: simultaneously youthful and family friendly, romantic and modern.
Santorini
Rising out of the crystalline waters of the Aegean Sea, Santorini's otherworldly volcanic landscape of black and red-sand beaches and enormous caldera meet quintessentially Greek white-washed houses and blue-domed churches.
Thessaloniki
Byzantine churches, crumbling ruins, modern architecture, intense nightlife and stunning beaches -- this is the essence of Thessaloniki. Being the second largest city in Greece, Thessaloniki combines more than 2,300 years of history with every facility a modern European city can offer a visitor.
Zakynthos
Called "the Flower of the East" by the Venetians, Zakynthos is still one of the lushest and most-loved Greek islands, with green hillsides covered with flowers in spring and early summer, cliffs dropping to dazzling turquoise waters, and some of the country´s best beaches.
