Santa Claus took a break from his pre-Christmas festivities to venture down to Finland and take a test run on BOLT, the first-ever roller coaster at sea aboard Carnival Cruise Line’s new Mardi Gras which is being delivered at the Meyer Turku shipyard later this week. With enthusiastic shrieks of delight and a few hearties “ho-ho-ho’s” echoing throughout the shipyard, Santa zipped along the 800-foot-long track featuring a hairpin curve around the ship’s iconic funnel, all while achieving speeds of up to 40 miles an hour. The all-electric coaster can accommodate two riders – or one Santa Claus and his bag of toys, perhaps – in motorcycle-like vehicles that race 187 feet above the water line, providing incredible views to the sea below.

“Never in my wildest dreams would I think a rollercoaster could be on a cruise ship. It’s something we’ll be talking about at the North Pole for a long time!” St. Nick said. Built in partnership with Germany-based Mauer Rides, BOLT is a first-of-its-kind open-air attraction that take cruise industry innovation to new heights when the ship enters service in 2021 from Port Canaveral, Fla. Six Hawaiian Islands. Six unique experiences. From crystal blue waters to stunning green cliffs and black sand beaches, Hawaii’s wealth of natural beauty is a breathtaking backdrop for unforgettable experiences that reward those who delve a little deeper – into vibrant cultures full of welcoming aloha, a thriving food scene, and thrilling outdoor adventures. There’s so much more to Hawaii than what you’ve heard about.

This is where culture meets creativity. In the lively center of the Hawaiian Islands, luxury, leisure, excitement, and adventure can all be found in just the right proportion to suit you. Oahu is famous for its iconic Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor, and the surfing mecca on the North Shore. There’s much more to this storied destination, though! From festivals that celebrate Hawaiian culture to major events at the pinnacle of sports and entertainment, there’s always something to do. Explore the lush tropical beauty that abounds from mountain to ocean. Discover up-and-coming chefs and mixologists, staking Oahu’s claim as a culinary capital. Schedule some free time on your itinerary so that you can go with the flow and soak in the buzz and energy of Oahu.

    Island of Hawaii

Take a road trip through the youngest and largest of the Hawaiian Islands. Nearly twice as big as all of the others combined, the Island of Hawaii’s sheer size and diversity are awe-inspiring. You can see some of the most pivotal sites in Native Hawaiian history and visit an active volcano, all while traveling through all but four of the world’s different climate zones. From the crystal blue waters of Kona and the black sands of Punaluu to the lush botanical gardens and waterfalls of the Hamakua Heritage corridor, there is so much more to see and do on this rich, storied island.

Maui is where larger-than-life experiences meet small town charm. This is the best of both worlds; offering a unique blend of sophistication and simplicity. Taste the fresh bounty produced year-round by local farms and breathe in the scent from lush gardens that surround the quaint communities of Upcountry Maui. At the end of a long day, make your way to the exclusive Haleakala National Park to witness an epic sunset from the top of the world, or simply lounge pool-side at a luxurious resort. From friendly folks to picturesque landscapes, there’s no end to the unique welcome you’ll find on Maui.

Natural and rustic, Molokai remains true to its island roots. Here, visitors can experience old-style Hawaii as it bursts with culture and that ever-present “aloha” spirit. While visiting, take some time to explore the glorious North Shore Pali Coast, where you’ll see the tallest sea cliffs in the world. You’ll find that the view is quite remarkable! You can also discover Papohaku Beach, one of Hawaii’s largest white sand beaches. In Molokai, it’s all about savoring the simple things in life.

Embrace serenity on the island where not one single traffic light can be found. Where luxury and privacy are a way of life. As the smallest inhabited island, Lanai offers an escape from it all. Indulge in world-class amenities and championship golf, or spend the morning exploring local shops in Lanai City. Delve into the historic paniolo cowboy culture, take in stunning canyon views of Maunalei Gulch, or capture unforgettable sunsets at the iconic Puu Pehe. From land to sea, the unexpected awaits you on Lanai.

“Rejuvenating” is a word often used to describe Kauai and its immersive natural beauty: the raw energy of the soaring cliffs along the emerald Napali Coast, the expansive vistas of the Waimea Canyon, and the soothing ripples of the Wailua River winding through the forest. The northernmost and greenest of the Hawaiian Islands is a place to put down your phone and forget about your worries. Breathe deep, unwind, and rediscover a special connection to nature on this beautiful, tropical island.

Any of these gorgeous islands will be perfect for your next Hawaiian getaway! Have you found your favorite yet?

From iconic Christmas trees to festive flourishes of garland adorning the front entrances and more, our resorts have decked their halls in celebration of the season for a fun holiday atmosphere. For instance, Guests can’t miss the massive and magnificent tree outside Disney’s Contemporary Resort. Or they can gaze in wonder at the tree stretching into the upper reaches of the soaring lobby at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Traditional tunes and holiday melodies fill the air in the classic setting of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, as a talented pianist performs live music most afternoons and evenings in the lobby. And while Guests are visiting one of these magical places, they may just spot a favorite Disney pal taking in the sights, as well.

The tinsel and trimmings make our resorts a wonderful way to check some names off the holiday shopping list, too. Guests will find great gift ideas for family and friends, especially anyone looking for an ornament from their favorite home away from home at The Most Magical Place on Earth. Resort gift shops offer exclusive pieces that can only be found here! When it’s time to take a break from merry-making, Guests can treat their taste buds with jolly specialties across our resorts. Holiday flavors of eggnog, peppermint, pumpkin, chocolate and more dance across the dessert menus at all our resorts throughout the season. Here are just a few tasty morsels:

The triple-chocolate Happy Holidays Grand Cake Pop from Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

A Christmas Candy Drop from Le Petit Café at Disney’s Riviera Resort, filled with milk chocolate mousse, chocolate sponge, hazelnut custard and cherry reduction.

Plant-based macarons available at The Artist’s Palette inside Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa.

Cookie Trees featuring stacks of vanilla cookies decorated with royal icing, mini-pearls and snow sugar, along with a delightful miniature Gingerbread Carousel with hidden Mickeys and a sugar replica of this year’s gingerbread pin from Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort.

And speaking of sweets, our pastry chefs cooked up some holiday cheer this year for gingerbread fans with a lineup of delicious cookies, kits and more. Highlights include a classic Gingerbread Mickey available at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort’s BoardWalk Bakery and the Contemporary Gingerbread House Kit from the Contempo Café at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.

Guests will find all sorts of other special gingerbread items available at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, and Disney’s BoardWalk Resort. If Guests aren’t staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, a dining reservation may be required to park at the resort. Depending on the location’s capacity, Guests without reservations may be redirected to park nearby and walk, or take Walt Disney World Transportation to the resort.
