Alabama A&M University's marching band is on the precipice of making history this Thanksgiving.

The marching Maroon & White will be the first HBCU marching band to KICK OFF the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in its 97-year history.

In addition, AAMU reports that the university's Dancing Divas will be featured in a special performance with the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.

The band also has a few other surprises that will fill its schedule while in the Big Apple," a news release teased.

Please note that the parade is also set to feature 5,000 volunteers, 16 character balloons, 26 floats, 32 heritage and novelty balloons, more than 700 clowns, 12 marching bands, eight performance groups, plus the biggest stars in music and Santa Claus himself.

Best Spots To Watch The Parade

    Along Central Park West :

Viewing starts at 75th Street (two blocks down from the official start of the parade) and is only open to the public on the west side of the street.

The east side of the street along Central Park is closed off for the grandstand seats.

The parade runs along this stretch from 9:00 am to 10:30 am, so early birds who don't mind turning up at 6 am to snag a prime spot should flock here.

    Columbus Circle :

Though there is no public viewing allowed at street level around Columbus Circle, there is a semi-secret vantage point from inside the Shops at Columbus Circle.

From the second and third floors of the mall, you'll enjoy an elevated view of the parade streaming down Central Park West.

As a bonus, you'll also get to see the Holiday Under the Stars light display. The doors open at 9 am. It will be crowded but you can go early, snag a spot, and stay warm!

    Sixth Avenue :

The floats and balloons reach West 59th Street and 6th Avenue at about 9:30 am.

The stretch along 6th Avenue between West 59th Street and West 38th Street is a great viewing location!

But if you want a prime spot, try to arrive no later than 7 am.

Along 6th Avenue between West 38th and West 34th Streets have extremely limited viewing and should be avoided, as should W. 34th Street between 6th & 7th Avenues.

The Parade stops in front of Macy’s Herald Square - however, there is no viewing at this location.

    Along The Parade Route :

Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steakhouse :

A luxurious tri-level sanctuary that sits right on the parade route near Radio City Music Hall, enjoying a sumptuous buffet brunch with a backdrop of the parade's vibrant floats and whimsical balloons through floor-to-ceiling windows. That's not all - you'll also enjoy unlimited mimosas and bloody marys, a DJ, Broadway performers - and for the kids - a face painter, a balloon artist and a caricaturist! This isn't just a parade viewing - it's a curated morning of awe and wonder, elevated by our impeccable service and hospitality. To complement this celebration, you can also add round-trip luxury airport transfers, 5-star hotel accommodation and your choice of a personalized selection of private and VIP experiences.

Reserve your spot now for this unparalleled experience and make memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. Trust us, this is THE way to witness the iconic parade and give a sensational start to your Thanksgiving Day. To learn more visit https://bit.ly/2SIjoVQ.
